Printers’ attention is captured by Rollem and HP demonstration
of “Recipes for Success”.
Rollem International and Hewlett-Packard demonstrated automation
in digital print finishing with the premier showing of the new
HP UV coater running in-line with the Rollem Jetstream. The
new Indigo 7000 printed colorful 13x19” press sheets containing
8 recipe cards which were coated and fed directly into the Jetstream
for in-line cutting, edge trimming and two-directional slitting,
followed by a new Auto-Collation unit gathering the cards into
finished sets. Only Jetstream can perform these multiple processes
and operate in-line with digital coaters and presses to offer
complete finishing automation on all types of cards, photo cards,
direct mailers and more.

Automation in direct mail finishing was also demonstrated
on the TR system in-line with plough folding, gluing, business
card tip on, vision verification and glue closure. This Complete
Mail Finishing system is fully automated eliminating the need
for multiple units, product movement and extra manpower. One
operator is able to streamline finishing with the ability to
“maintain the zip code integrity of the mail” from Feeding to
Finishing to Mail Trays. “We witnessed such enthusiasm from
visitors when they realized this system offers the ability to
start with a multiple-up press sheet and deliver direct mailers
folded and glued, ready for mail bins. Never before have we
witnessed such an interest in equipment capable of doing multiple
functions. By processing sheets as a single flow waste is eliminated,
productivity is increased and labor is significantly reduced”,
states Larry Corwin, President of Rollem International.
Rollem
also demonstrated NEW paper drilling technology with the PB-15
system featuring automatic feeding, jogging, drilling and delivery
of products including loose-leaf, collated products with tabs,
perfect bounds books, and stitched products and spiral & wire-o
all at speeds up to 1,500 piles per hour – twice the speed of
standard drilling!
